European Destination weddings are fast becoming the new norm for many couples when planning their big day. No longer reserved for the rich & famous, European Destinations such as Lake Como, Tuscany & Ibiza offer excellent packages for weddings.

Destination Brides tend to fly out their hair & makeup team rather than run the risk of having someone they don’t know & have to battle with a language barrier.

Trials are normally done in their home country or a few days before the wedding if flying out an artist from another country to their own. The glad squad would arrive a day or so before the wedding, generally the bride is responsible for organising and paying for flights & accommodation.

If a makeup artist has a few destination weddings around the same time the cost of travel can sometimes be split between the brides so its a bit easier on the budget.

The hair and makeup artist you book must be experienced in working with the changing climate, European weddings run from April-October, the climate can be super humid so applying makeup in those conditions will be different to what you experienced in your trial.

My destination brides

When I have been booked for a European weddings I will adjust the makeup according to the weather forecast for the day. In humid countries like Italy, for example a wedding in the Tuscan Hills; I will prep the skin with serums & light moisturisers then allow time for the skincare to completely absorb before applying any makeup. Makeup will then be applied In thin layers to allow the skin to breathe & to ensure that the makeup lasts all day.

Choosing oil free foundations & serum foundations are also essential for those hotter climates. I also use waterproof eyeshadow bases to ensure that the eyeshadow doesn't crease.

I will use High quality Anti- Humidity sprays & waxes in the hair to ensure that the hair stays polishes and there is no frizz.

My brides are always so happy with the makeup & hair which lasts long into the night..... and sometimes it makes it until the next morning too! ;)
