I usually do trials at home, or a few days before the wedding if I’m flying out to meet you overseas. I’ll arrive a day or two before your wedding, and it’s standard for the bride to organise and cover flights and accommodation for the glam squad.
It’s also really important to have an artist who’s experienced with different climates. European weddings run from April to October, and the heat and humidity can be a big factor — the way I apply your makeup there will be slightly different to what you might experience at your trial, to make sure everything lasts beautifully all day.
Weather & Climate Considerations
One thing that makes destination weddings different is the climate. European weddings usually run from April through to October, and conditions can range from very warm to super humid.
That’s why it’s so important to book someone who knows how to adapt makeup and hair to the weather. The way I apply your makeup in Europe will be slightly different to what you might experience at your trial at home — always with the goal of making sure everything looks flawless and lasts beautifully all day (and night!).
What to Expect on the Wedding Day
On the morning of your wedding, I’ll arrive with plenty of time to set up and create a calm, relaxed space for you and your bridal party. I always allow extra time for destination weddings to make sure there’s no rushing and you can enjoy every moment. I stay with you right until the last moment & can also be on hand all day for touch ups & hair & makeup changes.
My focus is always on skin prep, long-lasting application, and timeless looks that photograph beautifully in natural European light.
When I’m booked for a European wedding, I always adjust the makeup to suit the weather forecast for the day. For example, in humid places like the Tuscan Hills, I’ll prep the skin with lightweight serums and moisturisers, giving them plenty of time to absorb before applying any makeup. I then build everything up in thin layers — this lets the skin breathe while keeping your look flawless and long-lasting.
For those hotter climates, I’ll reach for oil-free or serum foundations, along with waterproof eye shadow bases so there’s no creasing throughout the day.
Hair is just as important — I use high-quality anti-humidity sprays and lightweight waxes to keep everything smooth, polished, and frizz-free.
My brides always tell me how happy they are that their hair and makeup lasts all day, all night… and sometimes even into the next morning! 😉
